Little Man got his first haircut yesterday and I can’t. get. over. it!!!
Also, best experience! Let’s chat /slash/ look at the 547 pics I snapped of my baby turning into a boy in a matter of moments. What.

Lauren, the stylish and fantastic founder of The Little Blue Jay, invited us to create this special memory in her new children’s hair studio. Just one glance at this precious space and I was a quick ‘yes, please‘!

Seriously, it’s adorable. Like… I wish my house looked like The Little Blue Jay. Bright white ship-lapped and bricked walls, clean white built-in furnishings, vintage-inspired lighting, rattan accent pieces, and of course…

… the adorable light blue seats for the kiddos! I believe some are even vintage. You can read her family’s history and the inspiration behind the shop here.

Scheduling our appointment was super easy. I used the Little Blue Jay website to book our appointment and it was a seamless process.
Love it when I can plan our daytime activities in the evening ‘after hours.’ Convenience win!
Austin’s stylist, Ms. Kaley, did a phenomenal job. She was very professional, polite, and patient, and she spent a lot of time grooming our Little Mister into an adorable boy.

I mean, I knew that Austin’s hair was getting stringy and confusing… but I’ll be honest, I didn’t know how much a hair cut would help. Oh my goshhhhh, it was needed!!!

Austin passed the time by checking out his handsome reflection in the mirror….

flying his baby blue plane…

and watching a cute little cartoon show on the television.

And just like that, he was all cleaned up and all smiles!

I think he’s happy to have his hair out of his face and ears, too!

I meannnnn! He’s so grown! What happened?!
PS: A tickle from the super soft neck duster creates adorable giggles and happy smiles 😉

Just in case an excellent hair cut, top-notch service, and a perfect atmosphere weren’t enough… {it is though}…
The Little Blue Jay also has a sweet little shop section!

Austin bee-lined for the adorable stuffed animals the second we arrived {note his ‘before’ hair.. eek}. And, let’s be honest… so did I!
Lauren carries such a great selection of baby and kid clothes, fashion accessories, books, and toys in The Little Blue Jay. She has the perfect amount of pieces {no overwhelming feelings here!}, and I was happily surprised to see how well-priced everything is! For real though!!

Wooden toys, handmade decor, sweet sweet clothing, and even accessories and toys from my favorite ladies at Helmsie*! Woohoo!
With so many unique and special items – I dare you to leave empty handed.
I did not… I picked up a few Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers for the kiddos! {I’ll give a peak on IG stories – but don’t show MJ!}

While I perused The Little Blue Jay shop section and chatted with Lauren, Little Man Austin played and played in this seriously cute playroom.

I think we all know why I love this space so much – hello, perfect mix of IKEA storage pieces and wooden toys + well-designed and kid-friendly decor, flooring, and even a fun tent.

The Little Blue Jay tied a {cute twine} bow on the whole ‘First Haircut’ experience. This sweet card and lock of his baby hair is perfect for his memory box.
I’ll pretend like I’m not emotional right now and just say that I am very thankful to Lauren, Ms. Kaley, and The Little Blue Jay for creating a memorable experience for Austin and me. It was a very sweet day and I will 100% be back for his future hair cuts.
Thank you, The Little Blue Jay!
And thank you for reading!

Trip Tip: {especially if you live near me}
When you map the address you may be like ‘eek, far away, uhh, no thank you‘ but I urge you to reconsider.
The drive was an easy 20 minutes {perfect for a podcast!} and the experience and cut was more than worth it.
Plus, you can tack on a trip to the Westside since you’ll be just about 10 minutes or less away. Make a {half} day of it! Grab some tacos at TDS, then bribe your kids with the promise of Jenni’s ice cream while you peruse Serena & Lily and Anthropologie. How fabulous does that sound?! Yes!

*Also… Does the name Helmsie sound familiar but you can’t remember why? I’ve talked about my love for their Alphabet Cards, my Mama necklace that I wear every single day, the bumble bee print in MJ’s room, and dog print in Austin’s room. The Little Blue Jay carries a great selection of their well-designed products!
